Board pair: Drawstory and MagicLight
Drawstory and MagicLight read differently on five of the six fields: board output, camera, panel edits, to video and board export. They read alike on the cast. From 2 source pages, read 2026-09-25; no maker pays to be listed.
| Field | Drawstory | MagicLight |
|---|---|---|
| What the storyboard comes back as | Panels plus lists | Image panels |
| How the camera angle is set | Read from the script | Set on the panel |
| How the cast stays the same | Defined cast | Defined cast |
| How one panel is changed | None given | Pose and angle settings |
| How the board turns into video | None given | Generated clips |
| Whether the board leaves as a file | Files | None given |
Inclusion rule. The six fields every board tool on the register is read on. Order. The order the fields take on every tool sheet.
1What sets the two apart
Both define a cast that holds across the board, and there the likeness stops. Drawstory's assistant director reads angles out of the script and its pages end at a shot list, a board and an export on paid plans. MagicLight sets pose, expression and angle per shot in Nano Storyboard and goes straight on to a full drama video, with no board export described.
2The differing fields, in the vendors' words
Four of the five differing fields are quoted below; the other one, board export, is in the table above.
