Between the script and the video: what AI storyboard tools hand back

OpenArt's own pages, read for what a plan hands a storyboard

The OpenArt page read here sells plans: one studio holding past a hundred picture, clip and sound models, with Director's one-click story creation on each tier, and faces that stay consistent — counted at roughly thirteen on the entry tier, forty on the next. A storyboard is not one of the things that page itemises. From 9 source pages, read 2026-09-25 to 2026-10-25; no maker pays to be listed.

1What this catalogue already records

The catalogue's readings of what a board comes back as, one line per tool, from drawn panels to a written shot plan. The stamp on each line says when the vendor's page was read.

2What the plan page itemises

The openart.ai page read for this column is its plan page, and the things it counts are models, characters and credits. Past a hundred models for pictures, clips and sound live inside the studio; Director's one-click story creation is listed against every tier; faces stay consistent, counted at roughly thirteen on the entry tier and forty on the next tier up; the image editing suite and personalised models carry the rest of the pitch, with commercial rights from the second tier and credits that stop at the end of the month.

Read that against the search that leads here, and the gap is plain. A person typing the word storyboard is asking what the board looks like and what happens to it afterwards; the page answers about capacity and about how many characters a plan will hold steady. The catalogue records the absence as a silence rather than a shortfall, because a plan page is written for a different reader, and the characters it counts are the same people a storyboard has to carry from panel to panel.

3What the catalogue's board field holds

Six forms turn up in the catalogue's readings, and the differences matter more than the labels. Boords returns a structured storyboard of frames with shot lists and scripts beside them. Storyboarder.ai returns a storyboard, a shot list, a screenplay and an animatic from one uploaded script. Toonkit returns cut-by-cut panels recording framing and where each character stands. OiiOii runs a single prompt through script, characters, scenes and storyboard to video. Topview returns multi-panel board images with the shot flow reviewed before the render. SceneMixer returns writing instead: a storyboard of segments and numbered shots, with no image grid before the shot list.

Two of those are documents a client can read, two are images a director can approve, and one is text that costs nothing to change. A planner choosing on the word storyboard alone is choosing between all of them. The catalogue's position is that the field has to be read per tool, and the line above each tool's row — drawn, listed, or written — is the part of the row worth checking first.

4What the threads carry for the search

The collection counted this page's model name across the window and found Seedance in 41 per cent of the posts it read in the subreddit, 7,416 of them, and 16,663 posts with 4,285 comment mentions in the wider tally. The two posts quoted under the table are the name's usual pair: a claim about what came out, and a figure for what it took.

Neither says anything about boards. The share is a fact about which render model the community talks about, useful when a plan's model list is being weighed and useless when the question is what a storyboard returns. The catalogue keeps the two apart on purpose: model counts on the render side, board readings on the planning side, and the six fields read from the vendor's own page.

5The makers on their own pages

What each maker's own pages state, read 2026-10-13.

SceneMixer“Each scene gets an automatic AI 3D model, and every shot in the scene is generated against it.”Not stated on the pages read2026-10-13

Inclusion rule. Rows are the makers this page reads, each on its own public pages, plus one storyboard this catalogue follows. A cell carries that maker's own wording for the point; a page that does not take the point up is written as unstated rather than read as a denial. Order. Alphabetical by maker name.

6Tallied from the threads

This page's model name, counted two ways: its share of the posts read in one subreddit, and the collection's own tallies. The quotes under the tables are about output and about money.

This is terrifying!! Seedance 2.0 just generated a 1-minute film with ZERO editing — the entire film industry

Seedance 4K is insanely expensive, this was $6,000 worth of credits but so worth it! Nexus Ep 2

7When the other tool suits the shot better

  • A plan has to hold a large cast steady — Consistent characters are counted per plan on this maker's page, up to about forty on the upper tier, which is what a long ensemble episode needs.
  • The work is images before it is boards — The page is built around an image studio with an editing suite, which suits a project that assembles its own panels from stills.
  • A priced plan has to be chosen before anything is made — The page sets out what each tier unlocks and how long credits last, and the catalogue adds no recommendation to it.
